This painting depicts the hero Perseus of Greek mythology. He rides Pegasus, a white winged horse. Perseus flies over a rough sea to the rescue of Andromeda attached to a rock prey to a marine monster. The waves are large and fall on the shore. In the left-hand corner of the painting you can see an abandoned tower, a sort of lighthouse. The monstrous creature is located in the front, bottom right. It is very close to Andromeda who here was represented by a male figure. The hero of the story Perseus was painted in the middle of the sky. The scene takes place shortly before the clash between the hero and the beast.
