The young man with the pearl is a reinterpretation of Johannes Vermeer’s work. Here the girl with the pearl gives way to a young boy with an oriental accent. At her ear is the famous pearl. He is wearing a blue and yellow shawl adorned with a jewel. Here we play on the feminine-masculine codes. I really like her doe eyes and the intensity of her gaze.
Working on this timeless model with the knife technique had for me something particularly moving, especially since the dimensions of Vermeer’s painting are very close. (A few cm separate us through the ages)
