The last born of the Serpentaires was painted in December. It is this last month of the year that gave part of its name to this painting. The serpentaires are therefore imaginary creatures of my invention, they are half-woman, half-plant. The upper part of the body is human and the lower part of the plant. Her hair is made of lianas and falls on her shoulders.
Fun fact: If you turn the painting 180°, Her dress gives you an idea of what a serpentine flower might look like. The legs of the creature form here the pistil of the plant.
